The weekend of Sept. 14-16 is chock full of activities for families and friends.Venture out to parks and recreations events like Third Annual Greenway Art Festival or the Puppy Plunge. Concerts, from blues to rockabilly, and theater are available.Children can learn the importance of reading at Linebaugh Library’s Reading Rally. Or adults can learn the importance of clean and clear ground water at the Stones River Watershed Association Regional Summit.MURFREESBORO PARKS AND RECREATIONThe Friends of the Greenway hold the Third Annual Greenway Art Festival on Saturday. The festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Thompson Lane Trailhead on the Stones River Greenway Artists will display and sell their works along the trail, like oils, acrylics, watercolors, pottery, silversmithing, sculpture and glass Trailside music, food vendors and activities for children will make this an artistic outing for the whole family. With a 40-person cast, the musical comedy is the largest production to ever take place at the center.The musical follows a traveling salesman and conman as he swindles the residents of a small town. They will wash clothes on a washboard, make candles, churn butter, and beat the rugs.Oaklands holds an event for adults only at 6:30 Friday night with A Fine Wine Affair. Accommodations are available and the activities, such as programs and presentations about the value of headwaters, river access issues and water monitoring will continue through noon on Sunday September 16. Attendees may attend all or part of the sessions. Registration is $20 for participants at the meetings. NATIONAL SPOTTED SADDLE HORSE ASSOCIATION SHOWThe National Spotted Saddle Horse Association presents the 28th World Grand Championship Show at the Tennessee Livestock Pavilion on the Middle Tennessee State University campus.
